NOTE: We have added additional information regarding the restoration of the Clemente doll.
From the diamond and gridiron, affirmative nods summon bobblehead collectors in this lot of (6) scarce survivors! With vibrant colors and decals at 100% throughout, the relics present beautifully. Professional restoration is nearly indiscernible. Includes: Roberto Clemente: 1961-1963 White Base; Detroit Lions: 1968-1970 Gold Round Base; Los Angeles Dodgers: 1963-1965 Green Base; New York Mets: 1966-1971 Gold Base; Philadelphia Phillies: 1963-1965 Green Base; San Diego Chargers: 1968-1970 Gold Round Base.
We can only assume that the entire doll has been restored and repainted. We know when the consignor gave it to us, he had mentioned when he gave it to the lady doing the restoration to only work on the head of the Clemente but she mistakenly touched up the paint on the entire dol; so we are pretty confident the base has been enhanced. As far as the damage repaired, we know the biggest work was done on the head but we are not confident on which parts, after looking at it though, definitely parts of the back of the head, the left shoulder and the jaw line. There appears to be original plaster on the inside top of the head but it is tough to be certain. It should also be known that the material used is quite heavier that the normal plaster used to create the doll in the 60's. Overall, the doll looks great but the percentage of originality is tough to gauge.
