Mired in a (then) franchise-long postseason drought, the 1971 New York Yankees remained optimistic as their youthful roster returned to the Big Apple following a 2-3 start on the road. On their April 12 off day before the home opener against Detroit, the team was honored at a “Welcome Home Luncheon” at the Americana Hotel’s Imperial Ballroom. This program was issued for that event and was signed by (25) attendees. The crisp folded item has printed event details in the center and is autographed on the reverse in blue ballpoint. The pennings project (“9”) or better quality throughout and include: Aker, Bahnsen, Baker, Blefary (d.2001), Burbach, Cater, Clarke, Ellis, Gibbs, J. Hegan (coach, d.1984), Howard (d.1980), Howser (coach, d.1987), Kekich, Kenney, McDaniel. Messer (announcer, d.2001), Michael, Murcer (d.2008), Peterson, Stottlemyre, Turner (coach, d.1998), Waslewski, B. White (announcer, signed in graphite pencil), R. White and Woods. Auction LOA from JSA.
