In his fourth of 14 straight wins to begin the 1986 season, Red Sox fireballer Roger Clemens was particularly dominating, fanning a record 20 batters in one game to beat the Seattle Mariners, 3-1. Encapsulated and Graded NM-MT 8 by PSA, this full ticket was issued at Fenway Park for Clemens’ amazing performance. One of nine at its tier with only two graded higher, the voucher features printed seating/event details and the facsimile signature of BoSox executive Haywood Sullivan.
While the 20 Ks were impressive, many do not realize that Clemens appeared headed for a loss that night when Gorman Thomas hit a home run in the top of the seventh to break a scoreless tie. In the bottom of the frame, however, Dwight Evans provided the margin of victory when he capped a two-out rally with a three-run homer.
